Chocolate Ripple Cake

  • Eggs 115 grams (weight with the shell)
  • 115 Grams butter, softened
  • 115 Grams caster sugar
  • 115 Grams all-purpose flour
  • 1 Tsp baking powder
  • 3 Tbsp milk or yogurt
  • 1 Tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 Tbsp cocoa powder


  • Heat oven to 180C. Grease a cake tin and line the bottom with parchment paper.
  • Beat the butter and sugar together; add the eggs, one at a time, mixing well.
  • Fold the flour, baking powder, milk/yogurt and vanilla extract until the mixture is smooth.
  • Take 1/4 cup batter in a separate bowl and stir the cocoa powder.
  • Dollop the chocolate on vanilla cake, take a skewer and swirl it around the mixture in the tin a few times to create a marbled effect.
  • Bake the cake for 20-30 minutes or until a skewer inserted into the center comes out clean.
  • Tip: The sugar, flour and butter should weight same as the eggs.
