Grapefruit Rasam / Grapefruit Shorba

Ingredients

  • 1 Tsp mustard seeds seeds
  • 2 Green chillies
  • 1 Spring curry leaves
  • 1 Tsp Split husked black gram
  • 1 Tsp cumin seeds
  • 1 Inch ginger chopped
  • 1/3 Cup grapefruit juice
  • 1/3 Cup cooked toor dal

Process

  • Pressure cook 1/4th cup of toor dal with 1 cup of water for 5 whistles. Add pinch of turmeric.
  • Heat ghee in a wok over medium heat; add cumin seeds, mustard seeds, urad dal and allow it to crackle. Stir in the curry leaves, chopped ginger and two slit green chilies’ sauté for 3 minutes
  • Add the cooked toor dal and ¾ cup water. Bring it to a boil.
  • Add the grapefruit juice and simmer for 2 minutes.
  • Serve with hot rice or serve as shorba/ soup.
